Lanshark

Lanshark uses your LAN or local network to help you share files with other Lanshark users. The application automatically detects other Lanshark users on the network, allows you to check out the files they share, and allows you to download shared files. So if you have a local network and you want to easily share data with other people, go get Lanshark.

Since we’re speaking about getting Lanshark, I have to tell you that Lanshark is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system and for the open source Linux operating system. Putting the spotlight on Windows, it must be said that Lanshark is available as an installer and as a portable version.

There are three tabs on the application’s interface:
Browser – view all the other Lanshark users on the network and check out the files they share.
Search – a handy search utility that will help you locate files.
Downloads – lists all ongoing downloads and all finished downloads.

Alongside this regular interface, Lanshark features a web interface that you can open in your default browser.

Say you and three of your friends are connected to the same local network and all of you have Lanshark installed on your machines. When you launch Lanshark, the application will detect other Lanshark users and display them on its interface. From said interface you can view all the files that were shared by those users and you can initiate a download.

Released under a GNU General Public License, Lanshark is a free application. You can use it for free for as long as you want.
